About NAICS Code Finder
NAICS Code Finder is a free tool built to help self-employed workers, gig workers, freelancers, and small business owners find the correct NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) code for their business activity.
Why This Tool Exists
Every person who files a Schedule C, applies for an EIN, forms an LLC, or opens a business bank account is asked for a NAICS code. Most people have no idea what code to use — and the official NAICS directory is thousands of pages long with language that doesn't match how people actually describe their work.
This tool was built to fix that. Type in what you do in plain language — "DoorDash driver," "freelance graphic design," "sell on Poshmark" — and get the right code instantly.
Who Built This
NAICS Code Finder is a project of The Independent Business Project, a division of The 10eleven | 10twentyseven Shop, LLC. The Independent Business Project creates guides, tools, and resources to help people understand their tax obligations, business formation options, and financial responsibilities — in language that actually makes sense.
Our other resources include:
The Gen Z Tax Playbook — A step-by-step guide that follows an actual tax return from start to finish. Built for gig workers and freelancers.
LLC for Gen Z — Ghost the 9-5. Your blueprint for indie boss status. A complete guide to deciding if and when to form an LLC.
Gig Workers Tax Guide — The complete tax reference for rideshare drivers, delivery workers, freelancers, travel nurses, content creators, and truckers.

About NAICS Codes
NAICS codes are maintained by the U.S. Census Bureau and are used by federal agencies to classify business establishments. The codes are updated periodically. This tool reflects the most current NAICS classification system and is provided for informational and reference purposes only.
This tool is not affiliated with the U.S. Census Bureau, the IRS, or any government agency. Always verify your code with the official NAICS directory or a qualified professional if you are unsure.
